Pogačar clinches fifth Tour de France, sets multiple records
Tadej Pogačar secured his fifth Tour de France title, becoming the youngest rider to win five times and setting several all-time marks, including a new Alpe d’Huez ascent record and the fastest overall race time of 73 h 56 m 26 s. The victory capped a dominant second half of the race in which Pogačar took stage wins on stages 10, 14, 19 (Alpe d’Huez) and the shortened final stage in Paris, widening his lead to more than four minutes while Remco Evenepoel moved into second place. Earlier stages saw Mathieu van der Poel win stage 9, Tim Merlier win stage 12, and Richard Carapaz claim stage 18; UAE Team Emirates struggled with illness and crashes that forced several riders to abandon.
