Linda Noskova Claims First Grand Slam at Wimbledon in All-Czech Final
Czech teenager Linda Noskova captured the Wimbledon women's singles title, defeating fellow Czech Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in the final. Earlier, the BBC reported that Muchova earned her place in the championship match by rallying from match point down to beat Coco Gauff 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (12-10) in the semi-finals. The New York Times noted that this set up an all-Czech final, continuing a three-decade streak of Czech champions at the tournament.
CNN said Noskova's victory marked her first Grand Slam title. The BBC added that the win made Noskova the third Czech player to claim the Wimbledon women's singles crown in four years. The match was the first all-Czech women’s final in Wimbledon history.
