Florida Renames Palm Beach Airport for President Trump Amid Lawsuits
According to NPR, the Florida legislature renamed Palm Beach International Airport as President Donald J. Trump International Airport, creating the first U. S. airport named for a sitting president.
The measure sparked a series of lawsuits contesting the name change and raised questions about trademark licensing and possible financial gains, the report said. The Federal Aviation Administration then changed the airport’s identifier to DJT as part of a phased transition, Fox Business reported. CNBC noted that new signage and the updated codes are being installed gradually following state law and FAA approval. NBC News added that the new signage was unveiled alongside a bridge in Tennessee also renamed for the president.
