Conor McGregor dismisses Khabib Nurmagomedov and other rivals ahead of UFC 329

Summary

In the lead-up to his bout with Max Holloway at UFC 329, Conor McGregor downplayed the achievements of Khabib Nurmagomedov, Georges St-Pierre and Jon Jones, while ranking himself as the sport’s top all-time fighter.

Conor McGregor entered the promotional buildup for UFC 329 by reiterating his confidence in his own legacy and questioning the relevance of several former champions. Speaking ahead of his scheduled fight with Max Holloway at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, McGregor said he had placed himself at the top of a new all-time UFC fighter ranking he helped compile.

When the discussion turned to Khabib Nurmagomedov, who defeated McGregor in a 2018 bout, McGregor claimed, "The guy's done nothing in the sport. Where is he now? He's gone. I don't rate him at all. The man has no courage; never fought above weight divisions, no stoppages, no knockouts."

He also omitted former two-division champion Georges St-Pierre from the list, asserting that St-Pierre took no risks and that McGregor would defeat him in a fight. Regarding Jon Jones, McGregor added, "Jon looks very soft there. Where's he now? Here I am still. None of these boys, including Jon, are on my level. He's got eight knockouts, I've got 19."

McGregor will face Holloway for a second time on Saturday, with the event broadcast exclusively on Paramount+.
