Boston Esplanade Reopens After Weather Evacuation Delays
Massachusetts State Police cleared the Charles River Esplanade during the Boston Pops July 4 concert after a sudden storm forced an evacuation, delaying the fireworks display, WCVB reported. The evacuation delayed the show and fireworks for about forty minutes before attendees were allowed to return. Local officials opened cooling centers for celebration participants, WHDH said.
A severe weather alert led officials to postpone the spectacle and evacuate the crowd, according to WHDH. Later the venue reopened and the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular resumed, WHDH added, with cooling centers remaining available for attendees.
