FBI Deploys Additional 260 Personnel to Georgia 2020 Election Investigation
The FBI is adding 260 intelligence officials to its ongoing probe of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia, expanding the team already stationed in Atlanta.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation announced plans to assign an additional 260 intelligence officials to its investigation of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia, according to an internal memorandum seen by reporters. The new personnel will supplement agents already operating in the Atlanta area, with some analysts working remotely on the case.
The memo describes the effort as a “priority” and calls for a rapid deployment of the staff. A law-enforcement official familiar with the investigation said the added team includes specialists in data analysis.
The FBI did not comment on the matter. The expanded probe follows recent actions by the Justice Department, including a warrant served in January at a Fulton County elections office that resulted in the seizure of 700 boxes of election materials. Federal prosecutors have also examined voting records from subsequent elections and have charged a limited number of individuals for alleged registration violations.
Justice Department officials have recently used a grand jury to request information on thousands of election workers who assisted with the 2020 vote count in Fulton County.
