Summary

A U.S. Air Force major was arrested on the Capitol steps after delivering a speech attacking President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, in violation of demonstration rules and military regulations.

A U.S. Air Force major was taken into custody on the steps of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday after delivering a speech that called for the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. The event, orchestrated by the left-wing activist group Removal Coalition, featured Major Jason Watson, who wore his military uniform and claimed to be on active duty, in a blatant disregard for military protocol.

Capitol Police, upholding the law, stated that demonstrations on the House steps are prohibited unless a member of Congress is present. Watson was escorted by a congressperson, who left before police ordered him to cease his unauthorized demonstration.

"The man refused our lawful orders and was then arrested for 22-1307 Crowding, Obstructing, and Incommoding," the police statement read, showing the consequences of refusing to follow lawful instructions.

A District of Columbia superior court official indicated that Watson will be released and no charges are expected. The D.C. attorney general's office has not commented, despite the seriousness of the violation.

During his remarks, Watson criticized recent U.S. military actions in Venezuela and Iran and the administration's immigration enforcement, echoing far-left talking points and undermining the Commander-in-Chief. He called for the impeachment, conviction, and removal of the president and vice president, disregarding the will of the American people.

Military regulations strictly prohibit service members from wearing uniforms at political events and criminalize contemptuous statements against senior officials under Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Jessica Denson, founder of Removal Coalition, admitted Watson contacted them and was aware of the consequences. Representative Al Green of Texas, a frequent critic of the administration, attended and posted a video praising Watson's actions, further politicizing the military.
