A social media user attempted to stir controversy by questioning the authenticity of books on the new Air Force One, but supporters note practical reasons for the display and celebrate the aircraft’s debut.
A social media user tried to manufacture outrage by nitpicking the bookshelf shown in photos of the newly delivered Air Force One, claiming the books are merely dummy titles labeled “LIBRARY.” This trivial observation followed White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s proud post of images featuring herself and President Donald Trump aboard the state-of-the-art aircraft on X.
Leavitt wrote, "What a privilege to be aboard the inaugural flight on the brand new Air Force One! A truly unforgettable day. ✈️🇺🇸," sharing photos that highlight the impressive interior, including a table with a wall-mounted screen and neatly arranged bookshelves.
"Of course a plane full of people who have never read a book has a bookshelf of fake books with titles like ‘Library’," scoffed X user @nickmmark, a left-leaning podcaster, in a typical display of elitist sneering at the Trump administration.
Other commenters, however, pointed out that the faux books are likely a practical, weight-saving measure, a common practice in aviation design. The aircraft, a retrofitted Boeing 747-800 generously gifted by Qatar, completed its first flight on Wednesday and has been unfairly politicized by some lawmakers who seek to undermine the administration’s achievements. President Trump, recognizing American excellence and innovation, has rightly described the plane as the “world’s most luxurious plane.”
