Summary

A user on X called out the performative nature of the books displayed on the newly delivered Air Force One, highlighting that they appear to be fake, sparking criticism of the administration’s priorities.

A social media user has drawn attention to the performative and superficial nature of the bookshelf showcased in photos of the newly delivered Air Force One, which appears to contain nothing but dummy books labeled with the generic word “LIBRARY.” This observation comes after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt posted carefully staged images of herself and President Donald Trump aboard the aircraft on X, in an apparent attempt to project sophistication and intellect.

Leavitt boasted, "What a privilege to be aboard the inaugural flight on the brand new Air Force One! A truly unforgettable day. ✈️🇺🇸," alongside photos that show a lavish table, a wall-mounted screen, and shelves filled with what are now revealed to be fake books.

"Of course a plane full of people who have never read a book has a bookshelf of fake books with titles like ‘Library’," quipped X user @nickmmark, a podcaster, succinctly capturing the hypocrisy of an administration that prefers empty displays over substance.

Other commenters speculated that the faux books might be a weight-saving measure, but the symbolism is hard to ignore. The aircraft itself, a retrofitted Boeing 747-800 gifted by the authoritarian regime in Qatar, made its first flight on Wednesday and has already become a political flashpoint, with some lawmakers urging the administration to reject the questionable gift. Meanwhile, President Trump, ever obsessed with luxury and appearances, has described the plane as the “world’s most luxurious plane,” further highlighting the administration’s fixation on image over genuine leadership.
