Bam Adebayo says he’ll challenge LeBron James on the court after James joins the 76ers
Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo said he holds no ill will toward LeBron James after the star signed with Philadelphia, but he intends to compete aggressively when the teams meet.
Miami Heat forward Bam Adebayo told reporters Tuesday that he has no hard feelings toward LeBron James after the veteran chose to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers instead of Miami, Cleveland or Golden State. Adebayo said he sent James a text indicating he plans to "bust his a--" on the court, adding that the upcoming season will be "exciting" for the Eastern Conference.
James’ decision to join a Philadelphia roster built around Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown and VJ Edwards was described as a move that could position the 76ers as contenders for his fifth championship. Adebayo emphasized that he respects James’ choice, stating, "There ain’t no disappointment. To me, you should always be happy for a person and their decision. He made a decision where he feels like it’s his best situation to win. And I feel like I’m a good friend of LeBron’s."
The Heat, meanwhile, added Giannis Antetokounmpo in the same offseason, creating a new frontcourt pairing with Adebayo. Analysts noted that the Eastern Conference now features several strong teams, including the 76ers, Heat, Celtics, Cavaliers and others, which should heighten the significance of head-to-head matchups during the regular season. Adebayo said he is prepared to raise his level of play when his team faces James and the 76ers.
