Lakers hold second meeting with Jalen Duren as Pistons vow to match offers
The Detroit Pistons said they will match any offer sheet for restricted-free center Jalen Duren, the Detroit Free Press reported. The team also indicated it was not pursuing a sign-and-trade, according to a later HoopsRumors. com report. Sports Illustrated noted that the Boston Celtics were exploring a sign-and-trade for Duren, but a contract dispute and a collective-bargaining-agreement provision complicated the deal.
The report suggested the Celtics' interest faced significant hurdles. Silver Screen and Roll said Duren would meet with the Los Angeles Lakers again after earlier interest from the Lakers and Sacramento Kings. HoopsRumors. com added that the Lakers general manager had already met Duren and scheduled the second meeting as the team evaluated a possible contract, while the Pistons reiterated they would match any offer.
