Trump nominates former Oklahoma trooper as ICE director, sparking dissent
President Donald Trump announced the nomination of former Oklahoma state trooper and Marine Corps veteran Richard “Lance” Schroyer as the director of U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, CBS News reported. NBC News added that Schroyer had been serving as a senior adviser to Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
The New York Times also noted the president’s intent to install Schroyer as the next ICE chief. The Daily Beast reported that the nomination provoked criticism from ICE officials. Some senior officials, according to that report, said they might retire rather than remain under Schroyer’s leadership.
