Trump denounces Senate vote on Iran war powers resolution as mistimed

President Donald Trump criticized the Senate on Wednesday for voting on a war powers resolution aimed at limiting U.S. military action against Iran, describing the measure as “poorly timed and meaningless.” The Senate approved the legislation by a 50-48 margin after it cleared the House. Four Republican senators – Rand Paul, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and Bill Cassidy – joined Democrats in supporting the bill, while Senator John Fetterman was the sole Democrat to oppose it. Trump posted on Truth Social that the vote complicates his approach to Iran, asserting that the United States will continue its strategy despite congressional action.

“Four Republican losers voted with the Democrats, and Iran asked my people, ‘what does that all mean?’ These senators have just made my job more difficult, but I will get it done, one way or the other, because I always get it done!”

The president also reiterated his view that Iran is cooperating on U.S. demands and warned that the United States would take necessary steps if Tehran fails to meet them.
