U.S. Issues 60-Day Waiver for Iranian Oil During Swiss Talks
The U. S. Treasury issued a 60-day general license permitting Iran to produce, sell and receive payment for oil in U. S. dollars during the first day of talks in Switzerland. Al Jazeera said the license was part of a memorandum of understanding reached with Tehran.

The Independent noted that President Trump warned Tehran not to breach the cease-fire agreement while the waiver allowed oil sales in dollars. CNBC added that the general license could generate billions of dollars in revenue for Tehran. Later that day, Al Jazeera reported that the United States had temporarily lifted sanctions on Iranian oil and opened a communication channel for the Strait of Hormuz. The report also said both sides continued to dispute details concerning frozen Iranian assets and the scope of nuclear inspections.
