Meta releases $299 smart glasses built with EssilorLuxottica

Meta introduced a new line of $299 smart glasses built with EssilorLuxottica, sold without Ray-Ban or Oakley branding. Meta first unveiled a Ray-Ban Optics version of its smart glasses that could accommodate prescription lenses. Engadget reported that the model added swappable nose pads, a longer battery life and an action button, and that the inclusion of prescription lenses pushed the price to about $700. A few weeks later the company introduced a lower-priced $299 model that omitted the Ray-Ban and Oakley brands.

The Verge said the new glasses feature adjustable fittings, expanded AI capabilities and a collaboration with Kylie Jenner. CNBC noted that the devices include a camera and speakers but lack a display. TechCrunch added that the glasses are produced with EssilorLuxottica and will be sold in several countries with a range of frame styles and lens options.
