U.S. Vice President JD Vance joins Iran talks in Switzerland
Vice President JD Vance arrived in Switzerland to participate in a new round of U.S.-Iran negotiations aimed at extending a cease-fire and addressing nuclear and regional security issues.
Vice President JD Vance landed in Switzerland early Sunday to take part in a fresh round of talks with Iran, alongside White House envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The meetings, scheduled at the Bürgenstock resort, involve delegations from the United States, Iran, Qatar and Pakistan and follow a recently signed 60-day cease-fire agreement between Washington and Tehran.
Vance said the priority is to establish a clear negotiation framework, with senior political leaders overseeing the process and technical teams handling details on the ground. He indicated that progress on Iran’s nuclear program and the Lebanon cease-fire will be key agenda items.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is also expected to attend, while Swiss officials confirmed the Iranian delegation’s arrival. The talks were postponed briefly after an initial start date on Friday, but have now resumed as the United States seeks a lasting diplomatic arrangement before the cease-fire expires.
