Toddler Hospitalized After Being Placed in Cambridgeshire Zoo Crocodile Pen
Cambridgeshire police arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after a three-year-old boy was found inside a crocodile enclosure at the Johnsons of Old Hurst zoo near Huntingdon, CBS News reported. The child had been forced into the pen and suffered serious injuries from the crocodile, the outlet said. Detective Inspector Verity McCann of Cambridgeshire Constabulary confirmed the arrest, according to The New York Times. Later, the suspect was released on bail while officials assess his fitness for interview, Fox News noted.
The boy was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where doctors described his condition as critical but stable, BBC reported. Medical staff said he had sustained severe injuries but was expected to receive intensive care, NewsNation added. The investigation continues as authorities review the suspect’s fitness for questioning and consider further charges, while the child's family receives support from hospital staff and local services.
