Trump's approval ratings slip in many states as he turns 80, poll shows

A rolling online poll of more than 110,000 registered voters conducted by Civiqs between January 2025 and June 2026 indicates that President Donald Trump’s approval has declined across the United States as he celebrates his 80th birthday. The national net approval stands at 36 percent, with 59 percent disapproving, marking a shift from the start of his second term.

State-by-state data show the president still leads in deep-red states, but margins have narrowed. Wyoming remains his strongest state with a +25 net rating, while North Dakota (+15) and South Dakota (+14) also stay positive. In contrast, several states that began his term with positive ratings have turned negative, including Florida (now –13), Ohio (–14), and Texas (–15). Kentucky experienced the steepest drop, moving from a +23 net rating in January 2025 to –4.

Demographic breakdowns reveal the weakest support among younger voters, independents and women. Among adults 18-34, only 21 percent approve, while 72 percent disapprove. Independents show 28 percent approval versus 64 percent disapproval, and women disapprove at a 65-to-30 margin.

The White House cited the 2024 election result as a mandate, with spokesperson Davis Ingle stating that “the ultimate poll was November 5, 2024” and that the administration is delivering on a “popular and commonsense agenda.”

Overall, the map retains its partisan shape—strong in Republican heartland, weak in Democratic coastal states—but the margins have contracted, suggesting a more competitive landscape in several battleground states.
