Trump's approval falls in most states as he turns 80, new poll shows

A rolling online poll of more than 110,000 registered voters conducted by Civiqs indicates that President Donald Trump’s approval has declined across the United States as he celebrates his 80th birthday. Nationally, 36% of respondents approve of Trump while 59% disapprove, putting him firmly underwater.
State-by-state data reveal that the president remains strongest in deep-red states, but margins have narrowed sharply. Wyoming still posts the highest net approval at +25, followed by North Dakota (+15) and South Dakota (+14). By contrast, states that were positive at the start of his second term—such as Florida, Ohio and Texas—are now net negative, with Florida at –13 and Ohio at –14.
The biggest drops are seen in Kentucky, which fell from a +23 net rating in January 2025 to –4, and in Montana and Idaho, which each lost more than 20 points. Even traditionally Republican states like West Virginia and Wyoming have seen their leads cut roughly in half.
Demographic breakdowns show the president’s weakest support among younger voters (21% approve, 72% disapprove), independents (28% approve, 64% disapprove) and women (30% approve, 65% disapprove). Education also divides opinion, with only 25% of post-graduates approving versus 71% disapproving.
Deep-blue states remain overwhelmingly negative, with Hawaii at –61 and Vermont at –56. Many battleground states now sit near the zero line, suggesting a more volatile map than at the start of the term.
The White House has dismissed the poll, with spokesperson Davis Ingle citing Trump’s 2024 election victory as evidence of a mandate from nearly 80 million voters.
