USPS reportedly preparing rules to tie mail-ballot delivery to voter-list submission
The United States Postal Service is reportedly preparing regulations that would tie the delivery of mail-in ballots to states submitting voter-list data, CNN reported. The draft rules would require each state to provide the federal government with a list of voters who have requested mail ballots, and would allow the agency to refuse delivery if the data are not supplied. The measures are intended to implement an executive order signed by President Donald Trump.
Democratic-led states have signaled that they will challenge the proposal in court. Election officials and the National Association of Letter Carriers have expressed criticism of the plan.
