Trump Walks Out of NBC Interview Over Election Fraud Questions
President Donald Trump walked out of an NBC Meet the Press interview in Wisconsin after host Kristen Welker repeatedly asked him for evidence supporting his claims of election fraud. NBC News reported that earlier in the interview Trump said he had not ruled out compensating individuals charged in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack and reiterated unsubstantiated allegations of election irregularities in California.
The Guardian noted that he told NBC he would pay rioters who assaulted police if he had the authority, while a federal judge had blocked a related anti-weaponization fund. Deadline said that during the broadcast Welker also pressed Trump about a Justice Department fund and his alleged fraud claims in the 2020 election and a California gubernatorial race. The Guardian and CBS News both confirmed that Trump abruptly terminated the interview after the questioning continued.
