Russia Threatens New Strikes on Kyiv, Urges Foreigners to Evacuate

Russia announces plans for systematic strikes on Kyiv's military-industrial facilities and advises foreign nationals to leave the city.

Russia has announced plans to initiate "systematic strikes" on military-industrial facilities in Kyiv, targeting sites involved in the design, production, and deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that these strikes will also focus on decision-making centers and command posts within the Ukrainian capital.

In light of these developments, the ministry has urged foreign nationals, including diplomatic personnel and representatives of international organizations, to leave Kyiv promptly.

This announcement follows a significant Russian aerial assault on Kyiv over the weekend, which resulted in multiple casualties and extensive damage to civilian infrastructure. Ukrainian officials reported that the attack employed various missile types, including hypersonic missiles, and targeted residential areas, markets, and cultural institutions.

The Russian government attributes these planned strikes to a recent Ukrainian drone attack on a student dormitory in the occupied town of Starobilsk, claiming it resulted in numerous civilian casualties. Ukrainian authorities, however, assert that their military actions are directed solely at legitimate military targets and deny targeting civilians.

As tensions escalate, the international community continues to monitor the situation closely, with diplomatic missions assessing the safety of their personnel in Kyiv.
