Vice President Vance Addresses Concerns Over President Trump's Stock Trades

Ամփոփում

Vice President JD Vance defended President Donald Trump's recent stock trading activities, emphasizing that the president does not personally manage his investments.

Vice President JD Vance addressed concerns regarding President Donald Trump's recent financial disclosures, which revealed over 3,700 stock transactions in the first quarter of 2026, totaling between $220 million and $750 million. The trades included significant investments in companies such as Nvidia, Oracle, Microsoft, Boeing, and Costco.

During a White House press briefing, Vance dismissed the notion that President Trump personally manages these trades. He stated, "The president doesn't sit at the Oval Office on his computer on his, like, Robinhood account, buying and selling stocks. That's absurd. He has independent wealth advisors who manage his money."

The financial disclosures have raised questions about potential conflicts of interest, as some trades involved companies directly affected by the administration's policies. For instance, the filings showed purchases of Palantir Technologies in March, followed by President Trump's public praise of the company in April.

A spokesperson for the Trump Organization emphasized that the president's investments are managed through fully discretionary accounts by independent third-party financial institutions, with no involvement from President Trump, his family, or the Trump Organization in selecting or approving specific investments.

Despite these assurances, ethics experts continue to express concerns about the potential for conflicts of interest, noting that while presidents are permitted to hold such assets, doing so can undermine public trust.
