United Airlines Flight Strikes Truck During Newark Landing

Resumen

A United Airlines flight from Venice, Italy, struck a bakery delivery truck and a light pole during its final approach to Newark Liberty International Airport, resulting in minor injuries to the truck driver.

A United Airlines Boeing 767-400, operating as Flight 169 from Venice, Italy, struck a light pole and a bakery delivery truck on the New Jersey Turnpike during its final approach to Newark Liberty International Airport on Sunday afternoon. The aircraft, carrying 221 passengers and 10 crew members, landed safely with no reported injuries onboard.

Dashcam footage from the H&S Family of Bakeries truck shows the driver, identified as Warren Boardley, reacting as the plane's wheel impacted his vehicle, shattering the window. Boardley sustained minor injuries from broken glass and was treated and released from a local hospital.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the aircraft "came into contact with a light pole" during its final approach. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has initiated an investigation, with an investigator arriving at Newark on Monday to collect the cockpit voice and flight data recorders.

United Airlines stated that its maintenance team is evaluating the aircraft, and the crew has been removed from service pending a "rigorous" flight safety investigation.
