EU Leaders Condemn Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon, Urge Ceasefire
European countries initially expressed strong disapproval of Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, emphasizing the need to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and calling for an immediate cessation of hostilities. Following these strikes targeting Hezbollah positions, European leaders urged that Lebanon be included in the ongoing U. S. -Iran ceasefire agreement to help stabilize the region.
Subsequently, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas publicly called on Israel to halt its military operations in Lebanon, citing concerns that continued strikes could jeopardize the fragile ceasefire between the U. S. and Iran and threaten broader regional stability. The European Council and various foreign ministers reinforced calls for restraint and an immediate ceasefire to prevent further escalation.
