Husband Arrested in Connection with Wife's Disappearance in the Bahamas
Brian Hooker has been arrested following the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, during a boat trip in the Bahamas. Authorities are investigating the incident as a criminal matter.
Brian Hooker, a 59-year-old Michigan resident, has been arrested in the Bahamas in connection with the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, 55. The couple was reportedly traveling in an 8-foot dinghy from Hope Town to Elbow Cay on Saturday night when Lynette fell overboard, according to Brian's account. He stated that she fell into the water with the boat's ignition key, causing the engine to shut off, and that strong currents carried her away. Brian said he paddled to shore and reported her missing upon arrival.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force confirmed the arrest of a 59-year-old man in Abaco on Wednesday, though they did not release his name. Brian's attorney, Terrel Butler, identified him and stated that he "categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing" and is cooperating with authorities.
Lynette's daughter, Karli Aylesworth, has expressed skepticism about Brian's account, citing her mother's extensive boating experience and questioning why Lynette would have had the boat keys. She has called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
The U.S. Coast Guard has joined the ongoing investigation, which is now being treated as a criminal matter. Search and rescue operations continue in the area as authorities seek to determine the circumstances surrounding Lynette Hooker's disappearance.
