Paediatric Society of Ghana urges government action on child health risks from illegal mining
The Paediatric Society of Ghana has urged the Government of Ghana to take urgent action regarding the health risks posed to children by illegal mining activities. Initially, the Society called on the government to declare illegal mining a child health emergency due to the severe risks it poses to children's health and development. They highlighted concerns about toxic exposure resulting from these mining practices. The Society issued an open letter to emphasize the need for immediate measures to protect children from these dangers. This call to action aims to prompt the government to implement policies and interventions that address the harmful effects of illegal mining on child health in Ghana.
