Indonesia is preparing to evacuate 15 nationals from Tehran via Baku as airspace closures delay departure.

Indonesia is preparing to evacuate its citizens from Tehran following ongoing Israeli and U.S. military strikes in Iran, Foreign Minister Sugiono announced on Tuesday. He has directed the Indonesian ambassador in Tehran to facilitate the evacuation for nationals wishing to leave.

Fifteen Indonesian nationals in Tehran have expressed their desire to be evacuated. However, the operation faces delays due to airspace closures resulting from the conflict. Authorities are planning an overland evacuation via Baku, Azerbaijan, which involves a ten-hour journey from Tehran.

Sugiono emphasized that the government will assist only those who voluntarily request repatriation. He noted that Indonesians in other Middle Eastern countries, such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, have not submitted evacuation requests, indicating that the situation outside Iran remains stable for now.
