Apple has unveiled the iPhone 17e and a new iPad Air featuring the M4 chip, offering improved performance, increased storage, and advanced connectivity options, all while maintaining previous price points.

Apple has expanded its product lineup with the introduction of the iPhone 17e and a new iPad Air powered by the M4 chip, both offering enhanced performance and connectivity without an increase in starting prices.

The iPhone 17e now comes standard with 256GB of storage, doubling the base capacity of its predecessor. It is equipped with Apple's A19 chip, featuring a 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU, delivering up to twice the performance of the iPhone 11. The device also includes a 16-core Neural Engine for on-device AI processing.

Connectivity improvements include the C1X modem, which offers up to twice the speed and 30% less energy consumption compared to the previous C1 modem, supporting 5G networks. The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display provides up to 1,200 nits of peak HDR brightness, and the front glass features Ceramic Shield 2 for enhanced scratch resistance. The iPhone 17e supports USB-C fast charging, achieving up to 50% charge in approximately 30 minutes, and is compatible with MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging at up to 15W.

The device includes a 48MP Fusion camera capable of 4K Dolby Vision recording at 60 frames per second, with features like optical-quality 2x zoom and improved Portrait mode. Satellite connectivity supports Emergency SOS, Messages, Roadside Assistance, and Find My when cellular and Wi-Fi networks are unavailable.

Apple also introduced a new iPad Air powered by the M4 chip, maintaining the starting price of $599 for the 11-inch model. The M4 chip features an 8-core CPU and a 9-core GPU, delivering up to 30% faster performance compared to the M3 version and up to 2.3 times faster performance compared to the M1 model. Unified memory increases to 12GB, supporting heavier multitasking and AI workloads.

The iPad Air is available in 11-inch and 13-inch Liquid Retina displays, offering more workspace for multitasking and creative work. The larger 13-inch model provides a better experience for split-screen productivity and content editing. The displays are designed for sharp visuals, smooth scrolling, and color accuracy suited for both media and professional tasks.

Connectivity improvements include the N1 wireless chip for Wi-Fi 7 support, while cellular models feature the C1X modem for faster data speeds and improved energy efficiency. Cellular versions also include 5G and GPS support, enabling connectivity and navigation without relying solely on Wi-Fi.

The new iPad Air runs iPadOS 26, which introduces a redesigned interface, a more advanced windowing system for multitasking, and improvements to the Files app. A new Preview app allows users to view and mark up PDFs directly on the device. The tablet supports Apple Pencil Pro and Magic Keyboard, which includes a built-in trackpad and function row for a more laptop-like experience.

Pre-orders for both devices begin on March 4, with availability starting March 11. The iPhone 17e is priced at $599, while the iPad Air starts at $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch model.
