Astronomers Identify Earth-Sized Exoplanet Candidate in Habitable Zone
Researchers have identified HD 137010 b, an Earth-sized exoplanet candidate orbiting a Sun-like star approximately 146 to 150 light-years away. The planet is located near the outer edge of its star's habitable zone and has conditions that may support liquid water, with some comparisons to Mars-like environments.
The discovery was made by an international team of astronomers using data from the Kepler space telescope's K2 mission. They have called for further confirmation to better understand the planet's characteristics and potential habitability.
