Trump Approves 28-Point Peace Plan for Ukraine-Russia Conflict
President Donald Trump has endorsed a 28-point peace proposal aimed at ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, though Ukraine has yet to agree to the terms.
President Donald Trump has approved a 28-point plan designed to end the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The proposal, developed over recent weeks by U.S. officials in consultation with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev and Ukrainian representatives, focuses on providing security guarantees to both nations to establish a lasting peace.
Despite the U.S. endorsement, Ukraine has not yet agreed to the plan. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that while ending the war is essential, "there can be no reward for waging war."
European leaders have expressed concerns over the proposal. European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas stressed the necessity of involving both Ukrainian and European parties in any peace agreement. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot rejected any plan that equates to capitulation to Russian demands, highlighting the importance of safeguarding sovereignty and deterring future aggression.
The Kremlin has downplayed reports of new peace efforts, with spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stating there were no developments beyond discussions held at a previous summit.
Amid these diplomatic efforts, Russian missile strikes have continued in Ukraine. A recent attack in the western city of Ternopil resulted in at least 26 fatalities, including three children, according to Ukrainian authorities.
The situation remains fluid as diplomatic discussions continue, with the international community closely monitoring developments.
