Bitcoin Falls Below $106,000 Amid Market Weakness
Bitcoin's price has dropped below the $106,000 support level, with major altcoins also experiencing declines, as market sentiment weakens.
Bitcoin has fallen below the $106,000 support level, trading at approximately $104,529. This decline comes amid weakening momentum in tech stocks and broader market concerns. Major altcoins have also experienced declines: Ethereum is trading at $3,524.62, XRP at $2.28, and Solana at $161.93.
Analysts suggest that if Bitcoin fails to hold above the $106,000 support, it could test lower levels, potentially around $100,000. Markus Thielen, founder of 10x Research, noted that a violation of this support could open the door to a deeper test near $94,000, or even a full retracement toward $85,000, aligning with strong on-chain support.
The downturn in cryptocurrency prices coincides with signs of overexuberance in major tech stocks, often referred to as the "Magnificent 7"—Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta, and Tesla. Analyst Neil Sethi highlighted that the put-call skew in this group inverted for the first time since December of last year, indicating that investors are overwhelmingly positioned for continued upside. Historically, such low skew readings have tended to coincide with short-term consolidation or reversals as optimism peaks.
Additionally, Oracle's recent massive AI investment disclosures have led to a surge in the company's credit default swap (CDS), reaching levels not seen outside periods of significant macro stress. This reflects investor anxiety regarding the booming AI spending, which has been a major driver of the bull market in both stocks and wider risk assets, including cryptocurrencies, since 2023.
Given these factors, market participants are advised to exercise caution amid the current volatility.
