Hamas has returned the bodies of three Israeli hostages, while a fourth body handed over was identified as a Palestinian, according to Israeli authorities.
Israeli military officials have confirmed the return of the bodies of three Israeli hostages by Hamas, while a fourth body transferred was identified as a Palestinian, not associated with any known hostage.
The families of Staff Sgt. Tamir Nimrodi, 18, Uriel Baruch, 35, and Eitan Levy, 53, were notified of the return and identification of their loved ones' remains at the Abu Kabir National Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv. This marks the first confirmation of Nimrodi's death in captivity.
The fourth body, assessed to belong to a Palestinian, was not linked to any Israeli hostage. Israeli authorities have urged Hamas to fulfill its commitments under the ceasefire agreement by returning all remaining deceased hostages.
The Prime Minister's Office expressed condolences to the families and emphasized the government's commitment to bringing back all fallen hostages. The office stated that Hamas is required to fulfill its commitments to the mediators and to return the remaining bodies as part of the agreement's implementation.
Hamas has informed mediators of plans to transfer additional bodies of deceased hostages to Israel, as efforts continue to locate and return all remaining hostages.
