Apple releases iOS 27 with Siri AI and expanded features

Summary

Apple's iOS 27 update introduces a conversational Siri AI, new Liquid Glass controls, and various system enhancements, available for compatible iPhone models.

Apple has rolled out iOS 27, its latest operating system for iPhone, after a period of beta testing. Users can install the update via Settings → General → Software Update, after backing up their devices. The upgrade adds a conversational assistant called Siri AI, which can draw on personal data such as messages, emails and photos to answer follow-up questions and perform actions across apps. A dedicated Siri app lets users continue conversations on supported devices, and a new Camera mode provides visual assistance while shooting.

"The new Siri can use personal context to find information across your messages, emails, photos, and other content," Apple explained.

Siri AI and related Apple Intelligence features are limited to iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16 series and later, as well as iPhone Air and iPhone Duo models. iOS 27 also adds a slider in Settings for adjusting the Liquid Glass display tint, refines app icons, and claims faster app launches, quicker photo loading and improved AirDrop speeds.

The update expands photo editing with Spatial Reframing, Extend and Clean Up tools, and introduces automatic tab grouping in Safari along with a "Notify Me" feature for webpage changes. Additional enhancements include a custom EQ for AirPods, separate volume controls for alarms and timers, broader parental controls, extended Communication Safety for graphic content, call context information, and accessibility upgrades for VoiceOver and other assistive technologies.
