Summary

The Democratic Party’s Association of State Democratic Committees is mobilizing tens of thousands of volunteers to monitor polling places, push early voting, and aggressively police what they label as 'misinformation' ahead of the November midterms.

The Association of State Democratic Committees, an extension of the Democratic National Committee, has unveiled a massive nationwide operation to train volunteers in all 57 states and territories. Branded as the New Battlefield Project, this initiative seeks to place Democratic operatives at about 25% of the nation’s 95,000 polling locations, with a clear focus on competitive districts where the party is eager to sway outcomes.

Volunteers, who will be easily identified by blue vests, are being instructed to 'assist' voters at the polls, explain provisional ballot options, and document what they deem as intimidation—raising concerns about partisan interference in the voting process. "We didn’t want to be caught flat-footed on election day or leading up to election day," said Jane Kleeb, chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party and president of the ASDC, highlighting the party’s determination to control the election environment.

The program also includes a national early-vote campaign, aggressively encouraging voters to cast ballots by mail or in person before Election Day, with advertising specifically targeting communities the party claims are 'vulnerable' to interference. "The earlier you can vote, the better," Kleeb added, pushing the party’s preference for early voting.

A third component will create a so-called "democracy defense network" led by Democratic strategist Simon Rosenberg. This network is tasked with sharing information among state parties about what Democrats label as disinformation, dark-money spending, and artificial-intelligence manipulation—part of a broader effort to control the narrative and police speech under the guise of protecting elections.
