Apple unveils $1,999 iPhone Duo foldable, aims to broaden market
Apple introduced the iPhone Duo, a $1,999 foldable smartphone with a 7.6-inch display, and Bloomberg strategist Mark Gurman said it could help make foldables mainstream.
Apple announced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, priced at $1,999. The device unfolds to a 7.6-inch screen, offering a larger view for gaming, video and multitasking while retaining phone portability. Pre-orders start on Oct. 16 and shipments are slated for Oct. 23.
Bloomberg strategist Mark Gurman said the Duo’s hardware, software and durability could position it as a leading model in the foldable segment, which currently represents a small share of global smartphone shipments. He noted that while the high launch price may limit early adoption, costs could fall as components become cheaper and Apple expands leasing options. Gurman also suggested Apple might later release larger or lower-priced versions of the concept.
