Rookie RB Jeremiyah Love expected to play in Cardinals' Week 1 despite ankle injury
Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is likely to be active for the season opener against the Chargers, though his workload may be shared with Tyler Allgeier.
Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is expected to suit up for the team's Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, despite recovering from a high-ankle injury sustained in preseason. Love recorded 11 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown in the victory over the Chargers, while teammate Tyler Allgeier handled the bulk of the workload in the second half.
The rookie missed several weeks of practice after the injury but has participated in limited sessions this week. Head coach Mike LaFleur said Love would have “no limit” in practice and described him as a “game-time decision.”
"Love is trending well," LaFleur told media members before Friday’s practice.
Reports from ESPN indicate that Love is likely to be active, though the team may rotate him behind Allgeier, who is listed as the primary back on the depth chart. If fully cleared, Love could serve as a flex option in fantasy lineups.
The Cardinals listed several players inactive for the opener, but Love remains on the roster and is projected to split touches with Allgeier, positioning him as a high-end RB2 for the season.
