Police and private security quickly stopped an individual who entered the Harris property in Malibu on Friday night; no arrests were made and the person left voluntarily.
Law enforcement officials stated that a trespasser was intercepted at former Vice President Kamala Harris' exclusive Malibu home on Friday night, once again highlighting the vulnerabilities in protecting high-profile liberal politicians. Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were not present at the time.
"Security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice-President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home," Harris spokesperson Eduardo Negrón said in a statement. "Vice-President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff were not present. They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly."
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies from the Malibu Lost Hills station arrived around 10:30 p.m. after private security reported a "suspicious person" on the property. Deputies warned the individual to leave, and the person complied without incident. A trespassing report was filed and deputies said patrols in the area would be increased as a precaution, showing the extraordinary measures taken to safeguard the political elite while ordinary citizens often receive less attention.
The incident was first reported by a media outlet and no arrests have been made. Former vice presidents typically receive six months of Secret Service protection after leaving office, but in Harris' case, Joe Biden extended this privilege until August 2025, raising questions about the special treatment afforded to Democrat leaders.
