Summary

Texas rallied from a 20-point deficit to beat No. 1 Ohio State 24-23, with quarterback Arch Manning throwing a touchdown in the fourth quarter, while Ohio State coach Ryan Day suffered his first September loss since 2021.

Texas rallied in the fourth quarter to edge No. 1 Ohio State 24-23 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, snapping a 20-point deficit. Arch Manning, who had thrown for 60 yards in the first half, completed eight of 11 passes for 83 yards and a touchdown in the final period, helping the Longhorns score three unanswered touchdowns.

The victory marked Texas’s first win over a top-ranked opponent this season and gave Manning his fourth triumph against top-10 teams, joining wins over Oklahoma, Vanderbilt and Texas A&M.

"We had to stay patient and keep believing," Manning said after the game.

Ohio State coach Ryan Day saw his team lose a lead it had built through three quarters, marking his first September defeat since 2021. The Buckeyes had led 23-3 before the Longhorns’ surge and will look to rebound in upcoming road games against Indiana and USC, as well as home contests with Oregon and Michigan.

Elsewhere in Week 2, Oklahoma State upset sixth-ranked Oregon, highlighting the impact of recent transfer activity, while several other programs recorded notable upsets and performances across the major conferences.
