iPhone Duo lacks several features found on iPhone 18 Pro models
Apple's first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, omits a number of hardware and software capabilities present in the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, including a dedicated telephoto lens and Face ID.
Apple's inaugural foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, offers novel functions such as Duo FaceTime and upcoming Apple Pencil support, but it does not include a range of features available on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The Duo relies on a 48-megapixel Fusion camera with "optical-quality" 2× zoom instead of a dedicated telephoto lens that provides up to 8× optical zoom. It also lacks a variable aperture for the main camera, a higher-resolution 18-megapixel Center Stage front camera (the Duo uses a 12-megapixel sensor), and the Action button found on the Pro models. Face ID is replaced by a Touch ID button, and the device does not contain a LiDAR scanner for augmented-reality depth sensing. Additional camera capabilities such as Pro controls, ProRAW, ProRes RAW, and spatial photos and videos are also absent. Pre-orders for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max begin on September 12, with shipments slated for September 18, while iPhone Duo pre-orders start on October 16 and the phone will ship on October 23.
