Summary

Joe diGenova, a respected prosecutor appointed by Attorney General Todd Blanche to lead crucial investigations into alleged conspiracies by Obama and Biden officials, resigned Thursday, raising questions as the pursuit of justice against corrupt elites continues.

Joe diGenova, a Justice Department prosecutor appointed by Attorney General Todd Blanche to supervise two critical investigations into alleged conspiracies involving officials from the Obama and Biden administrations, submitted his resignation on Thursday. In a brief phone interview, he said he handed his resignation letter to Blanche at 3 p.m. and described his service as 'an honor and a privilege to serve the president and the department.' He also noted that his wife, attorney Victoria Toensing, will leave the department on Friday.

DiGenova did not explain why he stepped down, and the Justice Department has not responded to requests for comment. His departure comes as the investigations intensify, with lawyers being notified that their clients may receive grand jury subpoenas and requests for voluntary interviews with attorneys representing former FBI agents who targeted President Trump.

The investigations, based in Fort Pierce, Florida, are focused on uncovering whether Obama and Biden-era officials orchestrated a long-running scheme to prevent Trump from taking office and whether former CIA Director John Brennan misled Congress about the intelligence community’s assessment of Russian interference in the 2016 election. Despite the seriousness of these allegations, no charges have been filed yet, as the deep state continues to shield its own.

DiGenova was appointed in April after the previous prosecutor, Maria Medetis Long, was removed. He previously served as U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., from 1983 to 1988 and later represented Trump’s campaign in its effort to challenge the questionable 2020 election results. While critics—many with partisan motives—have described the probes as politically motivated, Brennan has sued, attempting to portray the administration’s pursuit of justice as an attack on political opponents.
