WLFI Derivatives Surge Ahead of Token Unlock
Trading volume for World Liberty Financial's WLFI token derivatives increased over 500% ahead of the token's first unlock, with open interest nearing $1 billion.
Trading activity for World Liberty Financial's (WLFI) token derivatives has surged significantly ahead of the token's initial unlock scheduled for September 1, 2025. According to data from CoinGlass, 24-hour trading volume for WLFI derivatives increased by over 500% to $4.54 billion, while open interest rose 45% to $887 million.
The WLFI token, associated with the Trump family, is set to unlock 20% of tokens purchased by early investors at 8:00 a.m. ET on September 1. This release represents approximately 5% of the total token supply.
Major cryptocurrency exchanges have seen substantial WLFI trading activity. Binance accounted for about half of the total 24-hour trading volume, processing $2.22 billion with over 10.5 million trades. OKX followed with nearly 1.1 million trades totaling $917.5 million.
If the WLFI token maintains its current trading price of around $0.34, it could achieve a fully diluted market value of $34 billion, potentially ranking it among the top ten cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.
World Liberty Financial, founded in 2024, aims to bridge traditional and digital finance. The Trump family holds significant roles within the organization, with President Donald Trump serving as "Chief Crypto Advocate" and his sons, Barron, Eric, and Donald Trump Jr., listed as "Web3 Ambassadors." A company tied to the family earns 75% of the protocol's revenues.
The upcoming token unlock and the associated surge in trading activity highlight the growing interest and speculation surrounding WLFI as it enters the public trading arena.
