Atlanta Falcons quarterback Tua Tagovailoa appeared to experience back discomfort during individual drills on Thursday, briefly sitting on the grass before resuming the session. He did not throw the ball again during the portion of practice that was open to the media. The team’s injury report, expected later that day, may note that Tagovailoa’s participation was limited. Tagovailoa previously missed the first week of training camp with a back injury. 2024 first-round pick Michael Penix Jr. has been medically cleared but will remain inactive for Week 1 as he recovers from a torn ACL sustained last season. Cooper Rush is listed as the backup quarterback, and undrafted rookie Jack Strand remains on the roster after a strong preseason showing.
