Apple introduced a foldable iPhone Duo priced from $1,999 and updated AirPods, Watch and AI features at its first event led by CEO John Ternus.

Apple unveiled a foldable iPhone, called the iPhone Duo, at its Wednesday launch event, the first major product rollout since John Ternus became chief executive. The Duo features a 7.6-inch display, a hinge built from more than 100 precision components, and storage options ranging from 256 GB to 2 TB. It will be sold starting at $1,999, with pre-orders opening on Oct. 16 and shipments beginning Oct. 23.

The company also announced AirPods 5 with active noise cancellation, improved sound, hands-free Siri and live translation, priced from $129, and the Apple Watch Series 12, which adds higher-frequency heart-rate sensors and a redesigned health app, starting at $399.

Ternus highlighted the role of artificial intelligence across Apple’s lineup, describing the iPhone as “the best device to serve as an intelligent personal hub.” He said Apple Intelligence runs on devices to keep data private and noted enhancements to Siri, health insights on the Watch and translation features on AirPods.

Industry commentator Leander Kahney said Ternus “does a very good job of putting a human face on the big corporation that is Apple,” noting the CEO’s focus on the team behind the products. Kahney also described the Duo’s large screen and performance as appealing for gaming and productivity, and called its selfie-capture feature “clever.”
