Summary

New Hampshire voters chose nominees for the open Senate seat and other key offices, with strong conservative candidates receiving support from President Trump, while Democrats pushed radical agendas and identity politics.

On Tuesday, New Hampshire voters turned out to select nominees in critical races that will determine the state’s future direction. With Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen stepping down, the Senate primary saw Rep. Chris Pappas—an openly gay congressman with a record of pushing leftist social policies—facing Karishma Manzur, a Democratic Socialist and medical scientist, in a contest that highlighted the Democrats’ embrace of radical ideologies. Shaheen, a party insider, predictably endorsed Pappas, signaling the establishment’s desire to maintain control.

The Republican primary was a contest between proven conservative leadership and establishment figures. Former Sen. John Sununu, a respected leader and brother of former Gov. Chris Sununu, ran with the endorsement of President Donald Trump, energizing the GOP base and positioning himself as the frontrunner. Sununu’s opponent, former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, represented a more moderate wing of the party, but the momentum was clearly with the Trump-endorsed candidate.

In the 1st Congressional District, the National Republican Congressional Committee identified the seat as a top priority to reclaim from Democrat control. Nine Democrats, including big-money candidates Maura Sullivan and Stefany Shaheen, competed for the nomination, with Sullivan’s campaign flush with over $1 million more than Shaheen’s, showing the left’s reliance on outside funding. On the Republican side, five candidates vied for the nomination, with businessman Anthony DiLorenzo earning Trump’s full endorsement, signaling a strong conservative challenge. Hollie Noveletsky, a successful CEO, also stood out as a candidate who understands the needs of New Hampshire’s economy.

In the governor’s race, incumbent Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte, a proven conservative, was expected to easily secure her party’s nomination, while Democrat Cindie Warmington ran unopposed, representing the left’s continued push for government overreach in New Hampshire.
