Family of teen murder victim urges death penalty for alleged killer D4vd
The relatives of Celeste Rivas Hernandez have publicly called for the death penalty for singer David Anthony Burke, who is accused of killing and dismembering the 14-year-old in 2025.
The family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez released a statement on Sunday, the day before what would have been her 16th birthday, urging that the accused, singer David Anthony Burke (known professionally as D4vd), receive the death penalty. The statement described the alleged perpetrator as lacking feelings and conscience, and added that the decision rests with “God and the California justice system.”
Prosecutors allege Burke murdered the 14-year-old in 2025 and left her dismembered body in his car. He is currently incarcerated and has been ordered to stand trial on a murder charge, with a court appearance scheduled for next month.
