Apple to unveil three new iPhone models at September event

Summary

Apple plans to launch the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a new iPhone Ultra at its September event, with upgraded chips, cameras and a foldable design for the Ultra model.

Apple is set to hold its annual September launch event on Wednesday, during which it will introduce three new iPhone models: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a device dubbed the iPhone Ultra. The Pro and Pro Max are positioned as successors to the previous year’s 17 Pro line and are expected to feature Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro processor, enhanced camera systems with variable aperture, a smaller Dynamic Island, new color options and improved battery performance. Apple’s own C2 cellular modem will also be incorporated, and the devices will support updated satellite capabilities and 5G connectivity. Pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro is projected to start above $1,200, according to market estimates.

The iPhone Ultra is reported to be Apple’s first foldable smartphone, priced above $2,000, and designed with a book-style hinge that opens to a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen. The device is said to use a titanium frame, include dual rear cameras and dual front-facing cameras, and rely on Touch ID for authentication. It will run iOS 27, which is expected to support side-by-side multitasking and adaptive landscape layouts tailored to the foldable form factor. Performance specifications are anticipated to match those of the iPhone 18 Pro, including the A20 Pro chip, a vapor-chamber cooling system and the C2 modem.

Analysts note that Apple is postponing the launch of a standard iPhone 18 and an iPhone Air 2, which were expected in the fall, to early 2027. The reasons for the delay have not been confirmed, though industry observers suggest it may relate to supply-chain constraints. As a result, the upcoming lineup will focus exclusively on high-end models.
