Florida reports over 400 Cyclospora cases linked to recalled iceberg lettuce
Health officials say more than 400 Floridians have been diagnosed with Cyclospora, an outbreak tied to recalled iceberg lettuce, and urge consumers to follow food-safety guidance.
More than 400 residents of Florida have been confirmed with Cyclospora infections, a parasitic illness that causes diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue and loss of appetite. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identified the state among those reporting cases, while the U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirmed that all iceberg lettuce linked to the outbreak has been removed from the market.
"Women account for 56% of Cyclospora infections reported across the United States," the CDC reported.
Cyclospora cases typically rise during warmer months and decline by fall. Health officials continue to advise the public to adhere to food-safety recommendations and to check for any recalled products.
