Summary

Hundreds of concerned citizens blocked roads to the Port of Dover on Saturday to protest unchecked immigration, facing government condemnation and causing a multi-mile traffic jam before access was restored.

On Saturday, hundreds of masked anti-immigration protesters took decisive action by blocking the main roads leading to the Port of Dover, halting all vehicle traffic and creating a four-mile jam. Police engaged with these demonstrators, as the Port of Dover reported that traffic was stopped due to a public-order incident initiated by citizens demanding action on illegal migration.

The government quickly condemned the protest, claiming it exceeded the bounds of peaceful demonstration. The Labour Party, ever eager to defend open borders, issued a statement reaffirming the right to protest but hypocritically condemned the Dover demonstration and the resulting travel disruption.

"I’m not aware that there’s been any violence, although clearly, having the path of your vehicle blocked by men wearing black paramilitary gear and balaclavas is extremely intimidating," said Conservative local councillor Chris Vinson, acknowledging the protesters’ determination to make their voices heard.

Prominent activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, known as Tommy Robinson, proudly posted on X that “patriots have mobilised to close down the port.” Officials described the protest as related to illegal migration, highlighting the growing frustration among citizens over the government’s failure to secure the border.

P&O Ferries announced that access to the port was restored by midday and that passengers who missed their ferry would be rebooked. The port, which handles millions of passengers and freight vehicles each year, has become a focal point for demonstrations by those demanding an end to the crisis of migrants crossing the Channel.

Labour MP Mike Tapp lashed out at the protesters on social media, calling them “idiots” and demanding they leave the town, further illustrating the political establishment’s contempt for ordinary citizens standing up for their country.
