Josh Jacobs' first court appearance rescheduled for September 10

Summary

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs will appear in court on September 10 on misdemeanor battery and property damage charges stemming from a May 23 incident, though his attorney may attend on his behalf.

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs' initial court appearance has been moved from November 17 to September 10, according to court records. The hearing concerns misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property related to an incident at a Hobart residence on May 23 involving Jacobs and his girlfriend.

Police were dispatched after a 911 call was interrupted by yelling and profanity. The complaint states the couple argued, and Jacobs allegedly threatened the woman, grabbed her, and threw her to the ground, causing a head injury. Officers observed redness on the victim's face and a bump on the back of her head. Surveillance video showed Jacobs taking the woman's phone and later damaging it.

"The Brown County District Attorney has reviewed evidence and elected to file misdemeanor charges against Josh that do not include domestic violence. The allegations will be addressed in court, and not in the media. Mr. Jacobs respects the District Attorney's office and the process it followed," Jacobs' lawyers said in a statement posted on X.

The Packers issued a brief comment, noting they are aware of the charges, will cooperate with the NFL, and have no further comment at this time.

Because the offenses are misdemeanors, Jacobs' attorney can appear on his behalf if an authorization is filed, which was done earlier this week.
